The Client Brief
Our domestic customer based in Higher Westonfields, Totnes, approached us with the requirement for professional tree services. This project involved the removal of an ageing Leyland Cypress hedge, which had started to die back. The client also expressed the need for stump grinding to aid in the replanting process.
Another key requirement of the client was the regular maintenance of the newly planted Bay Laurel, which they wished to maintain at a specific height.
The Challenges
The primary challenge was the removal of the old Leyland Cypress hedge, considering its deteriorating state. This process required careful extraction to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding environment.
Another challenge to this project was the fact stump grinding was necessary to make the ground ready for replanting and needed to be handled with care to avoid damaging the landscape.
The introduction of the Bay Laurel and its future maintenance at a specific height, as required by our client, was also a significant responsibility for our team during this project.
What We Did
The Kneebone Trees team initiated the project with the careful and strategic removal of the Leyland Cypress hedge.
Once the hedge was completely removed, we continued preparing and treating the ground with stump grinding. Stump grinding was required to ensure the area was suitable for replanting.
Upon the successful completion of this groundwork, we then proceeded with the planting of Bay Laurel. Our team has also committed to regular maintenance of the newly planted Bay Laurel to keep it at the client’s desired height.
The Outcome
The successful replacement of the old hedge with Bay Laurel not only enhanced the aesthetic appeal of the property but also allowed more natural light to flow into the client’s home. The well-maintained height of the Bay Laurel hedge offers a sense of privacy from nearby roads and houses, meeting our client’s needs effectively.
